🌿 Introducing our new swaddle from the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea 🌿
This design depicts Oa Mirou—the Evening Star, from an ancient story about a common ancestor of the Moripi Tribe of East Kerema, Gulf Province.
The Moripi Tribe spans from Sepoe, Iokea and Miaru to the five Lese villages of Avihara, Marekea, Kavora, Ilava and Oalai. These villages share the same clans and common ancestors.
Legend tells us that every year during the monsoon season, Oa Mirou sails across the sky from the southeast towards the East Coast to meet his betrothed—a woman from the East Coast.
Through this swaddle, we share a story of ancestry, connection and culture with the next generation.
